Glossary 2

Amplitude

The intensity of a signal in either mechanical or electrical applications. Various frequencies in an electric signal will usually be controlled by a filter. i.e EQ

DAW

Acronym for "Digital Audio Workstation". Not as common nowadays are pro-quality hardware DAW's that come in the form of a mixing console or desk in various forms.

Typically however, DAW's exist as software on a computer and require an interface that converts analog signal.

Frequency Response

The amplitude of a set of frequencies in a range, typically from 20 to 20,000 hertz that a device or transducer is capable of reproducing or receiving.

Oscillator

Pulse electronics that supply signal to envelopes, amps and filters. Traditional metronomes came as mechanical oscillators but the term typically refers to current and voltage generators in synth electronics.
